TERRY FATOR AND THE MIRAGE TEAM UP FOR WOUNDED WARRIOR BENEFIT SHOW
Troops to be honored by Fator during special performance
LAS VEGAS–Unparalleled ventriloquist Terry Fator and The Mirage Hotel and Casino will honor wounded war veterans during the “Tribute to the Troops” concert, a special Veteran’s Day weekend performance of Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert Sunday, Nov. 14 at noon inside the Terry Fator Theatre at The Mirage. On behalf of Fator and The Mirage, net proceeds from the show will go to the United Service Organizations (USO) Las Vegas center, opening Thursday, Nov. 11 at McCarran International Airport. The new USO Lounge will provide active and reservist service members on orders, an estimated 55,000 who travel through the airport every year, a special place to relax and unwind prior to boarding their flight. The lounge will be located in Terminal 1, on McCarran’s mezzanine level.
Tickets priced at $129, $99, $79 and $59, plus tax and service fees, are now on sale. Military personnel and their immediate family will receive a 25% discount. To charge by phone call (800) 963-9634 or (702) 792-7777. Tickets are also available for purchase at The Mirage Box Office and online at www.mirage.com and www.ticketmaster.com
“This benefit show is the least I can do for the people who have fought for our freedom,” said Terry Fator. “I am able to show my gratitude towards these service men and women during each performance through a special tribute, but this show will allow me to thank these brave men and women in person.”
Fator is actively involved in honoring and supporting the Armed Forces. His contributions span from donating all his proceeds from the Terry Fator retail store at The Mirage to military organizations such as Snowball Express (www.snowballexpress.org) and The Twilight Brigade (www.thetwilightbrigade.com) to spending time with troops as he performs his show across the country. This is the second year in a row Fator will be involved with the Wounded Warrior event.
Scott Sibella, President and COO of The Mirage said, “We applaud Terry for his continuous efforts in supporting the men and women who serve our country. His selfless act of giving back is wonderful and we look forward to welcoming all service members to The Mirage to honor them during this special Veteran’s Day weekend performance.”
The “Tribute to the Troops” special performance in the Terry Fator Theatre is part of a weekend-long program from November 11-14 that honors 75 soldiers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and other military hospitals around the country. The USO selects these troops based on specific criteria and invites them, along with one family member, to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Las Vegas. All accommodations and program itinerary are paid for by participating properties and sponsors.
Doug Bradford, Center Director for the USO Las Vegas, said, “Terry Fator’s unwavering support of the military and the USO is evident every night during his shows. Terry understands the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and by performing on Sunday, his matinee show will surely bring smiles to the Wounded Warriors and all who attend. We look forward to being the beneficiary of Terry’s performance at The Mirage. It will make a world of difference to the men and women in uniform who visit our center at McCarran.”
Established before WWII as a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to the support and comfort of the American armed forces and their families, the USO continues to carry out that mission today. At more than 145 USO centers around the world, service members and their families find refuge, relaxation and a touch of home. The USO has always depended on the generosity of the American people and the dedication and commitment of its thousands of volunteers.
