Las Vegas – The Mirage welcomes its newest addition to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat – Java, a seven-week-old male baby leopard. The brown and black spotted cub is on display in a special nursery created for him in the Secret Garden. Java is born to Asabi, his Asian mother and Mu-gamba, his African father.
“We named him Java after one of the most exotic coffee beans in the world from the island of Java in Indonesia. Our espresso leopard proudly displays hundreds of spots and joins his older siblings, brother Neruda and sisters Leni and Ibasa and their parents in the Secret Garden.”
“He is now almost seven pounds and 26 inches in length. We call him the newest ambassador of the Siegfried & Roy Family in the Secret Garden,” said Siegfried.
About Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage:
The Mirage is home to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat. While providing enjoyment for guests, the habitats also serve as educational centers for guests and school children in the community.
Since opening in 1997, the Secret Garden reveals Siegfried & Roy’s most cherished and well-guarded secret: the world’s most exotic animals can live side by side with one another and with mankind. Through the Secret Garden, Siegfried & Roy seek to renew the public’s sense of responsibility to preserve nature. The haven represents what is possible when humans and animals work, play and share their lives together. Rare exotic animals reside within the Secret Garden: the Royal White Tigers of Nevada, the White Lions of Timbavati, gold heterozygous tigers carrying the gold and white gene, Africa and Asian leopards, a black panther and a snow leopard.
The Mirage, a AAA Four Diamond Polynesian paradise, opened in November 1989, setting a new standard of hotel excellence for Las Vegas and sparking a transformation that made Las Vegas one of the world's most popular resort destinations. The Mirage is a subsidiary of MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM).
